Hi everyone, many of us are trying to adapt to the new working space online and working from home. There are many challenges from adapting to new software and technology, to working with your kids and family in the background, to having a proper designated space. Whatever your struggles are, we know them, and we have successfully overcome them in our company as an online business and home working environments. Below are some of our success secrets that we want to share with you.

Always wear pants!

OK, yes, we know this one sounds a bit silly. But, yes, we have done the “work all day in pajamas and a hair bun” mode, and it does sound quite tempting! If you just started working from home, try your best to maintain the same standard of self-care that you did before for going to the office. Dressing up in the morning will help you keep motivated and confident throughout the day.

Call a space your office

When we transition to working from home, it’s not always easy to find the perfect spot to feel “at work”. Whether you have the space for a separate room to turn into an office, put a desk in a multipurpose room, or simply work from your couch or kitchen table, it is important to designate that space as your office during your working hours. If you live with other people or your kids, try to make it clear that this space is your office during business hours and you are not to be disturbed (we do realize this might be an extreme challenge if you have your kids at home!).

Limit distractions

When working at home, the biggest enemy are all the other fun stuff you could be doing instead of sitting in front of your computer. Try to be strong and limit the distractions as much as possible. Of course, it is very important to take breaks and not overload yourself but take your breaks like you would in the office – make a coffee, stretch, have a walk! Not many of us have sat down in front of the TV at work to watch “just one episode” of our favorite TV show at lunch, right? So, don’t do it at home either.

Stay connected

Communication is just as important when working from home as it is in the office. Whether you communicate with co-workers, your teams or your clients, keeping connected is the key. Instant messaging and video conferencing tools are a great way to stay in touch! And don’t forget to joke around and have fun just like you would in the office.
